Information requests

The information services of the Cancer Registry will be closed during the annual holidays from July 1st to July 28th. We try to fulfil as many requests as possible before the break. Processing of requests for information will resume on July 29th. Under the new agreement between THL (the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare) and the Cancer Registry, all data requests to the Cancer Registry must be submitted through Findata or THL.

From THL’s registers governed by the Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data, it is possible to request aggregated statistical data by submitting a data request directly to THL in accordance with the Act. Without a permit approved by Findata or THL, only already published statistical data on the Cancer Registry’s website can be provided. The data request form previously available on the website has been removed due to the new approach.

The data permit authority Findata is responsible for decisions regarding permits for personal data, as defined in the Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data (552/2019). Findata processes both applications that request the combination of data from multiple controllers mentioned in the Act, and applications that concern only THL’s registers, except for aggregated statistical data.

You can read more about permits on THL’s website:

Guidelines for permit and data requests can be found on THL’s website:
